Obama Has The Slows
by Tim Sullivan

During his Presidential campaign, Barack Obama frequently quoted Abraham Lincoln, our greatest war time president.

Now President Obama finds himself a war president.

During his presidential campaign, Obama said the war in Iraq was the wrong war and Afghanistan was the war to fight.

The war in Afghanistan is on hold awaiting President Obama’s decision to send more troops requested by Generals McChrystal and Petraeus.

As a war president, will Obama be Lincolnesque?

Lincoln would spend hours each day at the War Department reading the latest reports from his generals, in particular General George B. McClellan.

Lincoln found McClellan’s excuses for delay maddening. McCellan always claimed to be outnumbered and out gunned. Whenever McClellan finally went on the offensive, the Confederate Army had changed it position or, McClellan broke off the battle too soon to have a decisive victory.

Lincoln would make his famous comment on McClellan=—-he has the slows.

Lincoln would find his fighting generals, Grant and Sherman.

Now, President Obama faces a Taliban taking the offensive in Afghanistan

President Obama does not suffer from reluctant generals.

In Generals Patraeus and McChrystal, Obama has generals ready and committed to retaking the offensive in Afghanistan.

The generals have made their recommendations for more troops and how to deploy them.

President Obama is conferring with his advisors and has postponed his decision on deploying more troops to Afghanistan.

It is President Obama who has the slows.
